Last checked October 2026
What you'll usually need
- Dog at least 6 months old with an ISO microchip.
- CDC Dog Import Form submitted before travel.
- Extra rabies paperwork if the dog was in a high-risk rabies country in the last 6 months.
Travelling from South Africa
Check the CDC list to see whether South Africa is classed as high-risk — this changes what you need.
