Last checked October 2026
What you'll usually need
- Microchip first, then two rabies vaccinations.
- Rabies antibody test at an approved lab.
- Wait 180 days after the blood sample.
- Notify the Animal Quarantine Service at least 40 days before arrival.
Travelling from South Africa
SA is not a rabies-free designated region, so the full 180-day route applies.
